As a local, privately-held business, Argy prides itself on giving back to the communities that it resides in. Each year our charitable giving committee, "Argy Helping Hands", puts together a list of fundraising events. Here's a look at just a few of the events and fundraisers we have been involved in this year:
November 2011 - Thanksgiving Drive
This year The Argy Helping Hands adopted 8 families through the Homestretch and were able to give each of them a fantastic turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. In addition, each family received numerous bags full of groceries to stock their shelves for a while. Argy also contributed $75 gift card to each of the 8 families for future groceries purchase.
October 2011 - Jeans Day 2011
This month Argy employees participated in "Jeans Day 2011" and collected a total of $421 from employees, and with the firm's match, we contributed a total of $842 to "Put the ZIP on Homelessness".
October 2011 - Lee National Denim Day
Argy participated in Lee National Denim Day, benefiting the Women's Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).
October 2011 - Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk
Argy employees participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night walk in Reston, VA. Argy employees faised approximately $2,800, which the firm matched for a total of $5,600 in fundraising efforts, plus the firm's sponsorship of the walk.
September 2011 - Donation to Amy’s Army Inc.
Argy donated $2,800 to Amy's Army Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting women affected by cancer.
May 2011 - Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk
Approximately 30 walkers represented Argy at the 2011 Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk in Vienna, VA.
May 2011 - Donation to Best Buddies
Argy donated $700 to Best Buddies, an organization dedicated to establishing a volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
April 2011 - Donation to Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers
Argy employees donated over $500 to Loudoun Volunteer Caregivers, an organization helping elderly and disabled adults maintain independent living, during our monthly "Jeans Day."
March 2011 - Donation to The American Red Cross
Argy employees donated over $1,000 to The American Red Cross during our monthly "Jeans Day."
February 2011 - Donation to BEST Kids
Argy employees donated approximately $350 to BEST Kids, an organization dedicated to the mentoring of children in Washington, DC child welfare system, during our monthly "Jeans Day."
January 2011 - Donation to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research
Argy employees donated over $400 to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research during our monthly "Jeans Day."
November 2010 - Donations to Homestretch
During the month of November, Argy adopted six families from Homestretch and provided each family with a basket of all the necessities to make a Thanksgiving holiday dinner, including everything from turkey to cranberry sauce. Argy also participated in a food drive that collected non-perishable items to help support local food banks.
November 2010 - Blondes, Brunettes Tackle Alzheimer’s
The sixth annual Blondes vs Brunettes Powderpuff fundraiser took place on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at George Washington University's Mt. Vernon Campus. The fundraiser raises money for the Alzheimer's Association. Argy was a sponsor of the event and contributed $1,000 towards the fundraiser. Several Argy employees participated in the game and raised an additional $1,500 for the Alzheimer's Association.

October 2010 - Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk
Argy employees participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light the Night walk in Reston, VA. Over 70 Argy employees and their family members participated in the walk, which helped raise money for leukemia and lymphoma cancer research.
September 2010 - Ocean Conservancy’s 25th Annual International Coastal Cleanup
Argy employees came together recently to help with Ocean Conservancy's 25th annual International Coastal Cleanup. With the backdrop of the nation's Capitol, corporate, government and community volunteers gathered to kick-off the world's largest volunteer effort for oceans and waterways. Following remarks by corporate and government leaders, more than 200 volunteers from a variety of organizations and companies dispersed to remove trash from along the Anacostia River.
August 2010 - Argy’s School Supplies Collection
Argy employees collected and purchased school supplies and backpacks to donate to Mount Vernon Woods Elementary and Kemp Mill Elementary Schools in time for the beginning of the new school year. These donations will allow students from low income families to start their school year with the supplies and confidence they need. Staff and students at both schools were very appreciative and excited to receive the donations.
May 2010 - Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk
Argy Helping Hands is proud to recognize those who attended the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Great Strides Walk in Vienna, VA. Argy employees raised $1,200 to help further the CF Foundation’s mission to one day make the letters “CF” stand for “Cure Found”.
April 2010 - Greater DC Cares Annual Servathon
In April, Argy joined over 7,000 volunteers who teamed up in approximately 100 sites across the greater Washington area to make a difference and give back to the communities in which we work and live. Argy was very happy to be a part of this effort as a corporate sponsor.
March 2010 - Haiti Donations
Argy matched employee donations made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund supporting the relief effort in Haiti.
January 2010 - Cookies for the Troops
Argy again participated in the collection of girls sout cookies for the troops. Cookies were delivered to soldiers receiving medical treatment at Walter Reed as well as included in care packages sent to soldiers stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
November 2009 - Food Drive
Argy employees collected non-perishable food and baby food items to dontate to Reston Interfaith.
September 2009 - School Supply Collection

Staff and students at both schools were very appreciative and excited to receive the donations.
May 2009 - Florida Shoebox Greetings Project
Argy employees in the Florida offices participated in a local "Shoebox Greetings" project. Shoeboxes were filled with items to be donated to homeless children. Items placed in the boxes included hygienic items as well as snacks and games to help these children feel more comfortable while living at shelters.
May 2009 - Greater DC Cares Annual Servathon
On May 2, 2009, Argy employees gathered again to participate in the Greater DC Cares Annual Servathon. Last year, we had about 50 Argy employees participate and increased our participation this year. Information on the servathon is available at www.servathon.org.
March 2009 - Girl Scout Cookies For Troops
Argy would like to extend MANY THANKS to the employees who donated Girl Scout cookies during our annual Girl Scout cookie drive. Argy also matched all employee donations to result in more than 734 boxes of Girl Scout cookies being sent to soldiers overseas! That’s over 15,000 cookies!
